Who Are CALM?

 

CALM combine both the skills of engineering and IT professionals to deliver intelligent asset management and operations management solutions.

On an operational level, we conduct both scheduled and reactive asset inspections and maintenance activities for a range of Waste Water assets. We have highly trained operatives who carry out inspection and maintenance activities, utilising state of the art equipment. We deliver added value through the support of our in-house IT and Technical team who create bespoke asset management systems for data collection, analysis and reporting.

We are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 27001, and have an Achilles UVDB B2 accreditation, with an average pass rate of greater than 90%.

Our cloud-based IT products enable asset owners to fully manage the maintenance regime, condition, activity schedule and operational performance of a wide range of assets.

Utilising the latest technologies to deliver both a mobile and web solution, we help organisations ensure that their assets are maintained to the optimal condition, whilst delivering a cost-effective and pro-active service to their customers.

We enable end-to-end asset management from initial project creation, during asset inspections right through to quality auditing and automated validation using in-built intelligent algorithms.

Our solutions give our clients an extra level of capability and information when making decisions about asset maintenance or repairs.

Stephen Bruce

Stephen Bruce

CALM Founding Director

Stephen is one of the founder Director’s and has been with the business since its inception in 2012.
Stephen started life as a trainee civil engineer with a consultancy firm and later moved to West of Scotland Water as a civil engineering technician.

On gaining his HND in civil engineering, Stephen then went on to become a civil engineer after undertaking and passing the engineering council exams.

Stephen then moved into management as a senior contracts engineer and at the tender age of 27 started his own contracting business. Since then Stephen has owned and run numerous businesses but has always put a special emphasis on business development. His ethos has always been to work hard, deliver for his customers and gain the trust required to form long-term and successful relationships.

Mark Popham

Mark Popham

CALM Co-Founding Director

Mark is the co-founder of CALM, an engineering and IT company and together with his business partner Stephen Bruce, grown the companies turnover year on year. Mark is a Civil Engineer with 33 years’ experience in the civil engineering and utility industry.

Mark has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He resides in the Ribble Valley, following a career move from South Wales 27 years ago.

Marks’ experience allows him to specialise in providing asset management solutions that can assist companies in making better decisions on managing their ageing assets. Mark introduced the AIMS and Sewer Viewer systems to the market. He will continue to bring his experience to CALM and strive to enhance the company’s reputation.

Gary McNulty

Gary McNulty

Financial Controller

Gary has been working with CALM since 2012 in the role of Financial Controller, joining the business in its’ infancy, establishing finance and HR processes and systems to support the subsequent and continuing growth of the company.

Gary is a Chartered Management Accountant with a track record, gained over 20 years, of proactively leading and managing finance departments in various sectors including manufacturing, engineering and contracting.

Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to delivering improvements to administration and finance systems, processes and reporting to increase efficiency and achieve standardisation fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the Finance team and the wider business.

CALM has benefitted from Gary implementing effective financial controls, sustainable working capital management systems and Gary played a key role in CALM securing investment to support future growth of the business through a due diligence process which relied on the financial management reporting and financial modelling that he established.

Stephanie Kerr

Stephanie Kerr

Head of IT & Technical

Stephanie joined CALM in 2016 in the role of Head of IT & Technical, joining the business to further develop and innovate the systems and products delivered to the Utilities and Infrastructure markets.

Stephanie career has journeyed through private industry gaining a depth and breadth of experience across a variety of industries using IT, Business and digital transformations. Initially a graduate of Mathematics and IT, she later gained a MBA to hone the skills needed to support businesses through growth. Stephanie is also a Non-Executive Director, sharing skills and expertise, challenge and support to other organisations.

Since joining CALM, Stephanie has assisted CALM with implementing improved technologies, processes and security to enable support of our business, our customers and national infrastructure assets and developing innovative products for measuring, artificial reality and business intelligence.

Gary Clish

General Manager

Gary Clish is the General Manager of Operations for Complete Asset Life Management Group Ltd in Preston, Lancashire. Gary has the day to day responsibility for the Operations departments for the whole of the UK. He also has responsibility for all Scheduling, Planning and Fleet functions which have continued to support the year on year Operational growth of the business.

Gary has over 20 years’ experience in the Manufacturing, Engineering and Water services/utilities industries, starting as a Quality technician with Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK, working through various assignments as Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering Manager to roles with increasing responsibility within the Manufacturing and Water Utilities industries. Gary brings a new approach and perspective to the world water Utilities, lending from the successful 6-Sigma Black Belt status to help make the significant improvements required.

Gary has been the General Manager at Preston for more than four years and was influential in leading the Operational department’s growth to its current performing status.
